Britain is the ninth largest island in the world and the third most populated. The name Britain collectively refers to England, Wales and Scotland and therefore also includes a number of small outlying islands such as the Isle of Wight and the Orkney and Shetland Isles. At its furthest points, Lands End, Cornwall in South West England to John O'Groats at the far North East of Scotland, the island is 601.5 miles long. The island is steeped in history, culture and tradition; it has amazing coastlines complete with dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches to buzzing inner cities. When it comes to hotels Britain has some of the finest.

Britain is known for its unpredictable and wet weather and despite its relatively small size, the climate varies greatly from region to region. This is due to many factors including latitude and the effects of the Atlantic Ocean but generally speaking and as a rough guideline; the south and west tend to be mild, although wet, the east tends to be drier although a little cooler and the north is cooler and wetter. There is always plenty to do however, rain or shine. If you do find yourself stuck for something to do on a wet day, wherever you are in Britain, you will not be far from a museum or a castle or any number of other indoor attractions.

Britain has some fantastic beaches dotted along its coast line. Some of the best are in Wales, check out the Gower Peninsula or take a look at the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park. The Park covers around 240 square miles and is a mixture of sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and cliffs and is the only National Park in the country to have been granted its status due to its outstanding coastline.

When it comes to choosing somewhere to stay, you will find yourself spoilt for choice. If you prefer to save your money for sightseeing and shopping, then one of the modern chain budget hotels may suit you. With clean and comfortable accommodation but without the frills, these hotels offer a professional service at a good rate. If however, you feel like splashing out and you are more interested in luxury or boutique hotels Britain can offer some of the grandest and most exclusive. You don't even have to be in a large city to enjoy the splendour of a grand house hotel. The countryside has any number of grand country houses which have been sympathetically modernised and converted to offer high quality accommodation.

With major financial districts in many cities across the country, you may find yourself there on business. If you are looking for business hotels Britain will not disappoint. If you are travelling on a budget, then the modern chain hotel often provides free parking and internet access. If however your budget will stretch a little further then there are many hotels across the country able to offer services tailored to the business traveller. Business oriented hotels offer amenities such as business services, meeting rooms and even state of the art conference facilities.

London, the capital, is one of the most vibrant and multicultural in the world. The world famous attractions of Big Ben and Buckingham Palace are only the beginning. The city is incredibly diverse with more than 270 nationalities, including African, Indian, Chinese and Polish choosing to call Britain home. And with world famous shopping venues such as Oxford Street and Harrods you will be in the right place for a spot of retail therapy.

If you fancy something a little quieter and off the beaten track then take a look at the Lake District, a mountainous region in the North West of England. A popular holiday destination, the scenery is incredible and has inspired poets such as William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Britain has no fewer than 25 World Heritage Sites. These include the Castles of King Edward I in Wales, The Tower of London and St Kilda in Scotland. One of the most famous of these sites however is Stone Henge. No one really knows its original purpose, but simply being in the presence of a manmade object that is 50,000 years old is awe inspiring.

Whatever the reason for your trip to Britain, be it a business trip, a shopping trip or an annual holiday when it comes to hotels Britain has something to suit every style and budget.
